2007 EOU graduate, Danielle Colnot lives in Richland Oregon. She grew up not far away from this small fishing and farming community located near the Brownlee Reservoir on the Snake and Powder Rivers. Danielle graduated with a degree in Liberal Studies specializing in science biology and geography. Her capstone project focused around economic sustainability issues of her home town. Her desire was to develop a capstone project that could continue on and be looked at as a model for further analysis in dealing with the challenges facing the future of Richland.
 

 

 

 

2004 EOU graduate Courtney Burton with her husband Luke. Courtney now resides in San Francisco, CA working with the homeless in Golden Gate Park. Courtney earned a minor in geography and photography and completed a capstone project on historic school buildings in Baker County Oregon. We met up at the Association of American Geographers annual meeting in San Francisco and ate some great Thai food. Tap below for Courtney's interview.

 

 

 

 

 

Linda Watts. 2006 recipient of the Geography Student Award.
Linda lives on a ranch in Harney County. She earned her Liberal Studies degree with a minor in geography through the distance education program and on through on campus work. Linda's capstone, dealing with La Grande, Oregon parks, was published into a book. You can also read about it in an article published in the La Grande Observer. Nick Gorman, GIS specialist with the Elk Grove, California Fire Department.
Nick, on the left in the picture, also attended the Association of American Geographers meeting in San Francisco. His program at EOU included both computer science and geography. His capstone project looked at finding ways to locate fire stations in optimal locations for response time and access to community growth. Tap below for Nic's interview.
