For Online and On-Site Students Only
The Writing Center and Online Writing Lab (OWL) provide two types of writing tutoring for online and on-site students:
Online Writing Lab (OWL)
OWL submissions and responses function on an email model. The OWL provides asynchronous responses, meaning that the student and tutor do not meet or converse in real time. The student submits a paper using an online form, and the tutor responds in a message delivered by email.
EOU’s OWL accepts drafts Monday through Thursday and aims to respond to student papers within 72 hours. Drafts submitted between Thursday noon and 8 a.m. Monday are treated as Monday submissions.

SOT-Writing
Synchronous Online Tutoring (SOT) is new to EOU in 2012. An online or on-site student selects the SOT-Writing schedule at eou.mywconline.com/ and shares a paper with a Writing Center tutor. The student and tutor meet online at the scheduled time, using whiteboard and chat functions within the scheduler, to dialogue about writing.
SOT-Writing appointments can be scheduled as late as 11:59 p.m. the night before a desired online tutorial. This is a good option for those who need or want a quicker response than the OWL can provide.
