Being Tutored Online Reflection Working with a Writing Tutor: To become an effective tutor, it is important that you have experienced being tutored. Some of you have worked with tutors before, but some have not. You are required to submit a draft of your Writer's Autobiography to the Online Writing Lab (OWL) by Wednesday of Week 2 for tutor response. The tutors have a 72 hour turn around time, so if you submit on time, you will receive a response in time to revise by Friday of Week 3 when your final revision is due. Reflection: After your session with a writing tutor, write up a typed one-page description of and reflection on the session. Here are some questions you might consider? What were your expectations? Did the response match those expectations? What did you learn about your draft? What did you learn about yourself as a writer? What did you learn about writing? Why do you think that the tutor used this particular format of responding (Introduction, Global, Local, Closing)? What connections can you make between what we have been reading and the submission form and the tutors's response style? How do you see theories and paradigms working in the way the OWL is set up? In other words, what connections can you make between theory and practice as you reflect on your "being tutored" experience? Copy and paste the "Being Tutored Reflection" and the "Blue Slip" to the end of your Revised Writer's Autobiography for submission.. The "Being Tutored Reflection" must be at least one page, typed and double-spaced. The best reflections are usually 1 1/2 pages long. At the end of the session be sure to ask the writing tutor for a "Writing Tutor Response Form" or what tutors call a "Blue Slip." See the "Blue Slip Policy" in order to become familiar with how this system works. Online Students: Submit the "Being Tutored Reflection" to the link on the Assignemnts page. On-Campus Students: Submit in class.
