Essay #3: Final Tutoring Reflection Tutoring Reflection Models and Rubric To prepare you to write Essay #3, which is a reflection analysis on your tutoring experiences, here are some prompts to get you thinking. Be sure to take notes after each tutoring session so that you have your fresh thoughts to refer back to as you write this essay. Just as you have written about the history of yourself as a writer, now it is time to write about your history as an emerging writing tutor. Tell the history of yourself as a tutor in the genre of personal reflective essay. Each of you should have arranged at least one face-to-face tutoring session. Some have tutored more than one student. Some may have had one OWL tutoring experience (each will have at least done the OWL practice essay response). Describe your tutoring experiences, from OWL to face-to-face. Then use the reading from this term as a tool to reflect on your experiences. What worked? What didn't work? Why or why not? Reflect on all of your tutoring experiences (being tutored, observing tutors, tutoring online, and tutoring face-to-face). Any events stand out? Why? Refer to the readings at least 6 times as you reflect on tutoring. Use MLA documentation style when working with sources. Find key quotations to illuminate and analyze your experiences. After reflecting on your tutoring experiences, reflect on your growth as a tutor in general. Below are some questions and topics to get your thinking started (not meant to be a list that you write about in order!): ____ How would you describe your views of tutoring and yourself as a tutor/writer "before" the course? How would you describe your views of tutoring and yourself as a tutor/writer"after" the course? If your tutoring life were film or films, which? Why?
