"Patchwork of Women's Lives" theme the focus of 2004 International Women's Week

International Women's Week will be celebrated at Eastern Oregon University March 1 - 8.

This celebration is an expansion of International Women's Day (March 8), designated by the United Nations and celebrated world-wide since 1909 to recognize women as makers of history.

This year's theme is "Patchwork of Women's Lives" and events include An interactive quilting display, rock climbing, meditation, a film series, an art display, talks on contributions made by women historically and in various disciplines, and a panel on The Taming of the Shrew.

The week will culminate with an Awards Ceremony to recognize the contributions of campus and community women. This ceremony will be followed by Carole Groobman's one-woman show "Force of Nature," which reflects the power of childbirth and also problematizes its medicalization.
