Lisa Robertson Drumming Ensemble on Thursday, May 22 The EOU Drumming Ensemble will give an informal concert to perform pieces from Africa and the Caribbean in McKenzie Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The ensemble, made up of students and community members will be joined by Bend drummer, Dale Largent, and String Helix, an innovative student group featuring the music of two EOU students, Jesse Jones and Luke McKern. "(This music) really moves me," said Sean Gaskell (fr., Olympia, Wash.), in his second term of drumming. "I'm really into world cultureal music. This should be a lot of fun." Since drumming is a communal art, we are inviting kids of all ages to join us during the concert. Some bells and drums will be provided. You might learn a rumba bell part or a djembe part from West Africa, and if you want you can play along with the group. Come and enjoy yourself and bring the whole family. Fiddle Ensemble on Friday, May 23 Performers include Elizabeth Bonn (fiddle, vocals), Emily Callender (fiddle, vocals), Isaac Callender (fiddle, guitar), Jesse Jones (mandolin, fiddle, guitar), Aaron Kerns (guitar, vocals, banjo), Luke McKern (bass), Marie Rivard (guitar, vocals), Bern Youngblood (fiddle), Duane Boyer (guitar), and Lisa Robertson (fiddle, director). The group will perform highlights from traditional Scottish and American folk music as well as standard swing tunes like "Summertime" and Honeysuckle Rose." Admission is $3 for students and $5 for non students.
