selects Edvalson Director of Admissions Published: May 6, 2004 by C.J. Gish
La Grande, Oregon - Sherri Edvalson was officially named Director of Admissions at Eastern Oregon University on May 3. Edvalson, who has worked in the EOU Admissions Department since 1998, has been serving as the Interim Director of Admissions since Aug. 1, 2003 following Christine Steinmetz's departure. Edvalson will start her new position on July 1. "I felt that Sherri was the best fit for EOU at this time," said Sheldon Nord, vice president for student affairs. "She has great experience, knows the EOU culture and challenges, and has demonstrated a strong work ethic, a teachable attitude, and a passion for EOU's future success." Edvalson earned bachelor's degrees with honors in history and English in 1998 from EOU. She will complete her master's degree in higher educational leadership from Vermont College's Union Institute and University this summer. During her time working in the Admissions Department, Edvalson has worked as an academic advisor, a new student programs /financial aid advisor, the Micronesian Program advisor, new student programs scholarship coordinator, and new student programs senior admissions counselor. "I am honored to have been chose as the best
fit to lead the Office of Admissions and the campus community toward
our enrollment goals for fall 2004 and beyond," said Edvalson.
"I am a fourth-generation resident of Union County and understand
the unique sense of place EOU holds in this region and the Oregon
University System. I am excited to share EOU's mission and vision
with prospective students and families and to collaborate with my
colleagues on and off campus to recruit a qualified, prepared and
diverse student body." |
