Former
Athletic Rep to Be Inducted into CCC Hall of Fame
January 6, 2003
LA GRANDE, Ore. – For his
eight years of meritorious service to the Cascade Collegiate
Conference, Dr. Robert Brandon was formally inducted into that
organization's Hall of Fame this past September.
"This has come as such a surprise to
me... it's really an honor" stated Brandon. "I have really
just followed the path that was laid before me by past FAR's like
John Millay and Leroy Damewood. This is just such an
honor."
The Eastern Oregon athletic department
will also honor Dr. Brandon for his contributions during his time as
FAR before the men's game against Oregon Tech on Friday, January
17.
"Dr. Brandon is certainly deserving of
this honor," stated director of athletics Rob Cashell. "His work on
campus, in the conference and in the NAIA Region I as a Faculty
Athletics Representative has been outstanding. It was a pleasure
working with him prior to his retirement."
Brandon was instrumental in as Eastern's
Athletic Committee chair during the addition of women's sports and
was very involved in EOU's transition to dual affiliation with the
NAIA and NCAA Division III.
For most of his eight year's as FAR for
Eastern, Brandon was also the NAIA Region I Faculty Athletic
Representative, of which the Cascade Conference is a
member.
Brandon also wanted to thank Eastern's
registrar Dea Wells and eligibility coordinator Joyce Ross for their
help throughout his appointment. "They provided me with so
much help year after year. They were just great to work
with."
Brandon, a professor emeritus in
Mathematics, retired from the Eastern faculty last summer. He began
his career at Eastern in 1981 and received his doctorate from
California State University-Northridge in 1972.
