EOU athletics Hall of Fame to induct five [EOU release]
Peggy Anderson, Wayne Herron, Anne O'Leary-Morter, John Huntsman, and Michael Spencer recently joined the ranks of Eastern Oregon University's Hall of Fame. The five were selected by the EOU Hall of Fame Committee and will be inducted during the University's Homecoming weekend festivities on Oct. 25.
Lauritzen honored through RWCT program [EOU release]
Four years ago, Carol Lauritzen felt it was time to give back to the teaching community - around the world. Lauritzen, an Eastern Oregon University education professor, became one of 100 volunteer teachers with the Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT) program sponsored by the International Reading Association (IRA).
New students prepare for orientation week [EOU release]
Making the transition from high school to college isn't easy, but every year Eastern Oregon University's Admissions Department plans on making it a fun and memorable experience. From Sept. 22-29, new EOU students will have a chance to acclimate to the campus while attending orientation sessions and interacting in one-day and three-day off-campus EasTrek activities. Fall term starts Sept. 30.
Columbia Trio opens EOU Faculty Recital Series [EOU release]
Like their name, Columbia Trio's music will flow into La Grande next week. The Columbia Trio - three musical faculty members from Eastern Oregon University and Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. - will open the EOU Faculty Recital Series at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in McKenzie Theatre. The Columbia Trio was formed in the summer of 1998. The members include Matt Cooper (piano), an EOU associate professor of music and the director of the Jazz Ensemble; Lisa Robertson (violin), an Artist-in-Residence for violin at EOU who teaches violin, viola, and coaches chamber music; and Edward Dixon (conductor/cellist), a professor at Whitman and the conductor of the Whitman College Symphony.
