Venn, Cutright honored at faculty recognition banquet [EOU release]
Retiring English and Writing Professor George Venn and Library Director Patty Cutright were honored Saturday at Eastern Oregon University’s annual Faculty Recognition Banquet. Venn, who has taught at EOU since 1970, was named the 2002 Distinguished Teaching Faculty Member. Cutright, who was selected the Oregon Librarian of the Year in April, was awarded the Distinguished Administrative Faculty member.
Three years in DDE program pays off [EOU release]
Sitting in a classroom was not Liz Estabrooks’ idea of earning a bachelor’s degree. So instead, she decided to take advantage of Eastern Oregon University’s distance education program. Estabrooks, who graduated from EOU via distance ed in the Class of 2001, gives the program high grades for helping her earn a Liberal Studies degree.
South African teacher visits EOU [EOU release]
Teaching classes with no paper or pencils and only a chalkboard would exhibit a large problem for teachers in the United States. Emmanuel Malibongwe Shangase does it on a daily basis at his South African primary school in Livangeli that he's taught at since 1993.
EOU prepares for 2002 Commencement [EOU release]
The crowning moment has finally arrived for graduating students, parents, family and friends of Eastern Oregon University’s class of 2002. Years of diligent hard work, late nights and research papers are now behind and only the future lies ahead. The 73rd Commencement week of EOU will begin with an array of celebrations and activities on the EOU campus.
Huber receives 2002 Distinguished Alumni Award [EOU release]
Bob Terry, Rep. Greg Smith, and Dr. Dave Huber are hard acts to follow, but Eastern Oregon University is searching for who will be the recipient of the 2003 Distinguished Alumni Award. Nominations are being accepted online at www.eou.edu/alumni/alumniawards.html through April 30. Previous recipients include Huber (2002), Smith (2001) and Terry (2000).
