March 7: Women's Center opens [The Observer]

The visibility of gender and women's issues has been heightened at Eastern Oregon University. A Women's Research and Resources Center opened Tuesday. The center, in room 133 of Zabel Hall, has books, journals and videos on women's issues, three comfortable overstuffed chairs, art work addressing women's issues and more.


March 12: Mountaineers announce new athletic logo [EOU release]

Following a month collecting votes and comments, Eastern Oregon University recently announced that it wouldn't use any of three possible logos to represent the Mountaineers' Athletic Department. Instead, the University will use its established EOU logo and Mountaineers script signature together to form the new athletics moniker.

 

March 22: Students head to Ecuador [The Observer]

Eastern Oregon University sophomore Justin Keith will be immersed in South American culture over the next three months. What really excites him, though, is the opportunity he will have to give back. Keith is one of nine Eastern Oregon University students preparing to spend spring term in Ecuador.


March 27: Soprano aims for Europe [The Observer]

At 21, Andrea Corbett's life revolves around the sound of music. "Performance is what I thrive on, what I love," the Eastern Oregon University music major said. Corbett earned kudos from La Grande audiences recently with her soprano role in Mozart's Requiem Mass, performed by the combined university and community choirs and the Grande Ronde Symphony.


March 27: EOU celebrates International Women's Week [EOU release]

Eastern Oregon University is celebrating International Women's Week with a variety of activities showcasing women's accomplishments. The President's Commission on the Status of Women is proud to announce the grand opening of the Women's Research and Resources Center as the highlight of this week's events.


March 27: Dean of Arts and Sciences selected [EOU release]
Anne L. Pateerson, Ph.D., was recently selected to fill the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences position at Eastern Oregon University. Patterson has been the associate professor and chairperson of the Pittsburgh State University Music Department in Pittsburgh, Ka., since the summer of 1999.
