August 1: Landscape roots run deep - Evers retires [EOU release]
If Eastern Oregon University's John Evers had a dime for every time he squinted into the sun while driving to work in the morning since 1981 — he would not have enough money to buy a cup of coffee. For the past 20 years Evers has been arriving at work at 3:30 each morning. The retiring landscape maintenance superintendent used part of his time in the pre-dawn darkness to patrol campus and make sure that nothing negative had occurred overnight.

 

EOU set to break ground on Science Center [EOU release]
Eastern Oregon University is set to break ground on its long-awaited Science Center. Statewide dignitaries, local community leaders and legislators, including U.S. Senator Gordon Smith, Congressman Greg Walden, Oregon Speaker of the House Mark Simmons, Oregon Senate Majority Leader David Nelson and Oregon University System Chancellor Joe Cox, are slated to attend the ceremonial groundbreaking for the $33.5 million dollar Science Center.
