Archaeology technician Sara Biechler, of La Grande, volunteered her time for
Girls in Science, demonstrating how to look for remnants of Chinese pottery
and pioneer artifacts in a simulated archaeological dig. Beth Gilmore, also an
archaeology technician from La Grande, showed students how togently shake
the sifting screen to find hidden treasures.
"It's been cool - archaeology is my favorite part," said Yazell Chavez,
a sixth-grader from Stanfield Elementary School.
