LA GRANDE, Oregon – A Montana State University administrator is leaving big-sky country to join the Eastern Oregon University community.
Virginia Key, former internal audit director at MSU, has been named vice president for Business, Finance and Facilities at EOU and will formally begin her new position in January. She replaces Marv Wigle, who is retiring.
“We are pleased to welcome Ms. Key to EOU and we are confident that her combined leadership and financial experience will be a great asset to our campus,” said Khosrow Fatemi, EOU president.
At MSU, Key managed the centralized internal audit function for all of Montana’s land grant institution’s campuses and agencies. She was a member of the President’s Executive Counsel, advising on risk management and policy development in budgeting, physical resources, information systems, compliance, sponsored research, stakeholder relations and strategic planning. Other duties included conducting fraud investigations and participating in ad-hoc committees.
Key’s professional experience also includes a controller position with Dynojet Research, Incorporated in Belgrade, Mont. She worked as the manager of administration for the police department in Hattiesburg, Miss., and was the internal auditor for the University of Southern Mississippi and at Service Corporation International in Houston.
Key attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she majored in accounting and earned a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration in 1988. She later received certification as a public accountant in the state of Texas in 1991 and became certified as a fraud examiner in 1998 through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She attained a master’s degree in information assurance from Norwich University in Vermont in 2006.
