Author George Venn to give presentation at Pierce Library

LA GRANDE, Oregon – George Venn, retired professor of English at Eastern Oregon University and writer-in-residence emeritus, will give a free, public presentation at Pierce Library on Monday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the first floor reading room.

Venn is the author of the recently published book, “Soldier to Advocate:

C.E.S. Wood’s 1877 Legacy,” (Wordcraft of Oregon, LLC, 2006). Venn’s transcripts of Wood’s previously unpublished diary tells the story of the one

U.S. Army officer who became an advocate for Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce. “Soldier to Advocate” traces their unique friendship from 1877 to 1939, a period of more than 60 years.
