LA GRANDE, Oregon – If dancing the mambo or being able to carry out a conversation in Spanish are things you’ve always wanted to learn how to do, Eastern Oregon University is the place to be in November.

EOU will celebrate International Education Week Nov. 13-18 and everyone is invited to experience the cultural diversity on campus and discover the exchange opportunities that are available.

Performances by the EOU African Drumming Ensemble and Chamber Choir, a presentation on women in Iran, an international tea potluck and a photography exhibit are among the many activities planned.

“We are working to provide a variety of things for students and the community to participate in while promoting our study abroad program,” said Danny Aynes, director of career services at EOU. “We’ve received a lot of help from volunteers and many of the international students on campus will be participating in and/or leading workshops and classes.”

A Study Abroad Fair will provide information to students thinking about going on exchange, while the Oxfam Hunger Banquet will motivate them to get involved in eradicating the problem of hunger locally.

The Career Services, International Programs, Residence Life, Multicultural Affairs and Cornerstones Program offices are coordinating the events.  Following is a complete schedule of events. Please note that with a full week of activities, some changes in the schedule may occur. Visit http://www.eou.edu/intprog/IEW2006.html for any updates.
