EOU, UCC partner to bring more educational opportunities to students across the state

LA GRANDE, Oregon – Eastern Oregon University has entered into an agreement with Umpqua

Community College that will increase access to educational opportunities for students throughout the state.

enabling students to take classes through both institutions.

Under auspices of the new partnership, students can enroll in classes through both UCC and EOU. Michael Cannon, dean of EOU’s Division of Distance Education, traveled to Roseburg on Friday, October 13, to meet with UCC President Blaine Nisson and David Briggs, UCC board chairman.

 

“DDE’s mission has always been to provide increased access to place-bound students. We’ve spent the last few years expanding our reach throughout rural Oregon and are very pleased to now have Umpqua Community College as a partner,” Cannon said.

 

“We have an office already established at UCC staffed by Jasmine Filley, Southern Valleys regional director, and we are looking forward to assisting students achieve their educational goals,” he said.

 

Bachelor’s degrees that will be made available to UCC students through EOU’s distance education program are business administration; business economics; fire services administration; liberal studies; physical education and health; and philosophy, politics and economics.

 

“I am very pleased with this new partnership and extend my sincere congratulations to UCC President Nisson and the Umpqua community on the signing of this important agreement. Through this partnership, both institutions will better serve the needs of people throughout our state,” said EOU President Khosrow Fatemi.

 

Dual admission and enrollment plans expect to be fully implemented by no later than the fall of 2007.
