Johnson and John DeHoog, a mixed
media work using charcoal, paper
and wood.

LA GRANDE, Oregon — Eastern Oregon University's Nightingale Gallery will feature the work of Michigan artists Christy DeHoog Johnson and John DeHoog and an installation by Ohio artist Dragana Crnjak.  There will be an opening reception for the exhibition September 30 from 7-9 p.m. in the gallery.  Ms. Crnjak will be present at the opening and is scheduled to give a brief gallery talk. The exhibition will run through October 27.

The sister and brother team, Christy DeHoog Johnson and John Dehoog, are highly talented and respected artists and in their own right they have come together to make a collaborative body of work specifically for this exhibition.  Dragana Crnjak will be creating a wall drawing installation in the gallery's installation room.  The dual sense of whimsy and danger present in all three artists’ work, coupled with a dynamic energy of line should make for a visually exciting beginning of Nightingale's exhibition season.

DeHoog Johnson holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design and a master of fine arts degree from California State University-Long Beach.  She is represented by LaFontsee Galleries of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  DeHoog is an associate professor of art at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.  He has a bachelor of fine arts degree from Northern Michigan University and a master of fine arts degree in furniture design from the Rhode Island School of Design.  Both artists have exhibited nationally and internationally.

Crnjak holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron in Ohio and a master of fine arts degree in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Originally from Yugoslavia, Crnjak now makes her home and studio in Boardman, Ohio.  She has taught at the Cleveland Art Institute and the University of Virginia.  She routinely exhibits her work nationally.
