LA GRANDE, Oregon — Eastern Oregon University incorporated its celebration of Constitution Day into the Opening Session and Orientation activities on Monday.

As an educational institution that receives federal funds, EOU is required to celebrate Constitution Day. The holiday falls on Sept. 17 each year, but since it fell on a Sunday this year, events were included in the New Student Orientation schedule on Monday.

A Constitution Day Memory Walk, an American theme lunch with crossword puzzle placemats, Students Rock the Vote registration, the raising of the American flag, and a brief lesson on flag etiquette were among the activities. Captain Kotz and Detail, from the Gold Program at EOU, conducted the flag raising ceremony.
