Eastern Oregon University’s opening session for fall term 2005 begins Monday, Sept. 19. All teaching faculty will be present and new students and entering freshmen will be on campus Tuesday, Sept. 20. Fall term classes begin Monday, Sept. 26.

Monday's events start off with a continental breakfast in the Loso Hall lobby from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. President Khosrow Fatemi will give a welcome address at 8:30 a.m. and introductions of all new teaching and administrative faculty and classified staff will follow. At 10 a.m. divisions will break for their individual opening sessions.
The new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Marilyn Levine, will speak on “Shaping the Future: New Beginnings,” in Huber Auditorium at 10:15 a.m. Dean Michael Jaeger will address the College of Business and the College of Education faculty and staff at 11 a.m. in Zabel Hall, Room 114. The Division of Distance Education will meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Hoke Union Building, Room 201-203, with Mike Cannon, interim dean, delivering opening remarks. Frank and Jean Colson, pioneers in academic online computing, will give the keynote address for the College of Arts and Sciences on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. in Huber Auditorium. The Colsons are co-founders Mackenzie Ward Research (mwr), a leading developer of online educational resources in Europe, based in Winchester, Great Britain.
Orientation also begins on Tuesday with a full day planned for new students and entering freshmen. Parents will have a special opportunity to questions answered by University officials. Students will meet with advisors and have their ID photos taken. Orientation continues through Sunday, Oct. 2 with the goal of introducing new EOU community members to the values, expectations, support services and possibilities of this academic community and the goals of lifelong learning.
