La Grande, Oregon – Detailed information on millions of U.S. businesses and residents is now at the fingertips of Pierce Library patrons using the new ReferenceUSA database.
The Rural Oregon Institute at Eastern Oregon University is funding the Internet-based reference tool for Pierce Library during the 2005-06 school year.
“Thanks to the funding from the Rural Oregon Institute at EOU, ReferenceUSA is now available to community businesses to create marketing lists for advertising campaigns, identify competitors, and more, just by visiting Pierce Library,” said Shirley Roberts, EOU’s interim library director.
“Also, the database allows EOU students to work with resources that may be available to them upon graduation within the businesses they become employed in," she said.
ReferenceUSA is a service of the Library Division of infoUSA, a database company founded in 1972. It is also a resource for 683,000 U.S. health care providers, one million Canadian businesses, and 11 million Canadian residents. Information is compiled from a broad range of public sources including telephone directories, state, provincial and municipal government data, major newspapers and postal service information.
