LA GRANDE, Oregon – The Community School of the Arts at Eastern Oregon University is sponsoring a violin camp for children on August 7 -11 at EOU.
The camp is geared for children ages 6-12 with less than two years experience playing the violin and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Registration is $150 per student, however some financial assistance is available.

Lisa Robertson
EOU music instructor Lisa Robertson will lead the camp. Robertson holds a bachelor’s of music degree and a master’s of arts from the University of Iowa. She received her doctor of music from Florida State University and studied at the University of Iowa, the Zurich (Switzerland) Conservatory, and at Florida State University.
Robertson is the founder and music director of the Wallowa Lake Chamber Music Festival and Workshop, which brings top musicians to eastern Oregon to perform and teach. At EOU, Robertson teaches violin, viola, string chamber music, and is co-director of the EOU Fiddle Ensemble.
EOU undergraduate students Brandi Brown and Sarah Berglund will be assisting Robertson with the camp. Brown and Berglund have played with the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra and have taught private and group classes for many years, including the past two years with The Community School of the Arts at EOU.
"This is going to be a fun camp for the kids,” said John Winn, CSA director. "We have a very talented and experienced staff that has a long history of working with kids. It will be a great opportunity for beginning students to learn the basics of the instrument in a fun, safe and supportive environment."
The camp is limited to 20 participants so early registration is encouraged. For more information about the camp or to register call (541) 962-3629 or visit www.eou.edu/csa.
