La Grande, Oregon – Sheldon Nord, vice president for Student Affairs at Eastern Oregon University, announced today that Rob Cashell, the University’s Director of Athletics, has accepted a position in Pendleton with US Bank.
Cashell, who has led the athletics department since 2001 will stay with the University through July and begins his new duties with US Bank August 1.
“This is a tremendous loss for EOU, and while our community is saddened to lose such a valuable member of our team, we celebrate with Rob and Heather on this new opportunity for their family,” said Nord. “Rob has helped EOU through some challenging transitions, including dual affiliation, Title IX Gender Equity, and developed scholarship programs, and our student-athletes have improved facilities, support and opportunities for success due to Rob’s work.”
As Director of Athletics, Cashell oversaw all aspects of the University’s athletics program and facilities, including intercollegiate athletics, intramurals, wellness and recreation programs, and Booster Club activities.
“Heather and I have thoroughly enjoyed our time here,” said Cashell. “The opportunity to join an organization like US Bank comes at a perfect time for us both personally and professionally. EOU and La Grande are special places and we feel honored to have served the University and been part of a great community.”
Steve Williams, vice president and team leader of US Bank’s Eastern Oregon Business Banking Team, is looking forward to Cashell working with US Bank.

“We will take some time to have discussions with coaches, staff, student-athletes, faculty members and Booster Club representatives before proceeding with a search for a replacement,” said Nord.
