LA GRANDE, Oregon — The Women's Research and Resource Center at Eastern Oregon University will sponsor a Take Back the Night event on Friday, June 2, to support and honor survivors of sexual assault in their struggle to find safety and justice. A rally in the quad near the Loso Hall steps begins at 7 p.m. and participants are invited to march down to Max Square for a candle light vigil.

There will be an open mic session, music and refreshments for survivors, friends and family of survivors during the vigil. The Women's Center will also provide information about local resources for victims and survivors, and action ideas for everyone to be involved in to work toward making the campus and community safe. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Take Back the Night marches are held internationally as a recognition of the violence, particularly sexual violence, that affects communities on a daily basis. For more information about this event, or to learn about ways to get involved in sexual violence prevention and response, stop by the WRRC office in Zabel Hall, Room 133, visit www3.eou.edu/womenctr/ or contact the WRRC staff and volunteers at womenctr@eou.edu.
