Flu season begins on campus

Flu season has reached campus. The EOU Student Health Center reports diagnosing numerous students with influenza, however cannot confirm whether this illness is the H1N1 strain (swine flu). Regardless, the Health Center is urging all students, faculty and staff to take the necessary precautions to avoid contracting the flu.
While there is no need to be overly concerned at this point, to help prevent an outbreak, the Health Center is encouraging people to take the precautions they would normally take to prevent colds or flu:
- Wash your hands with soap and water (alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.) Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people. Don't share drinks, toothbrushes, etc. Cover your mouth with something other than your hand when you cough.
