Nicole Stalder

Once upon a time in a land far, far away (Tillamook) a little girl named Nicki (age 8) was in her first play. The play was “The King & I” and she was a royal princess (yes, it was type cast). That play is what instigated her theatre addiction. A few years later her mother taught her to sew which became her second all-consuming addiction. At age 10 Nicki moved to the town of Baker City, where Wranglers, pointy boots and giant cowboy hats dominated the “fashion” scene. This frightened Nicki so she hid in the theatre department at her high school. It was there that she cam up with the idea to mix her two passions and made costumes for both church and high school plays. A month before Nicki turned 18 she left for George Fox University where she volunteered to help with costumes for the spring play. After putting in 70 hours of volunteer work in 2 weeks on top of working 20 hours as a TA and attending school fulltime she learned to demand money for her work. After attending Fox for a year and a half Nicki transferred to EOU where she is currently trying not to be sucked into the horrors of slave labor in the costume shop. Eventually Nicki will be designing costumes for Broadways plays and everyone will live happily ever after.
