Danae Yurgel Playwriting I became a student in the EOU Theatre Department in fall 2002. My theatre piece “Voices” was performed at the EOU New Play Series in January 2003. I went on to act in “Wit” and “The Laramie Project” at EOU, and the one-act “Peace In Our Time” performed for the Spring Symposium/ Vietnam Conflict forum. In fall 2003 I attended theatre classes in Athens, Greece through the EOU Studies Abroad program, under EOU theatre faculty April Curtis. My playlet “Postcards” was performed by our class at The Athens Centre in December 2003. I am currently a Liberal Arts major pursuing minors in Theatre, History, Gender Studies and Biology, with aspirations to sell enough screenplay ideas to fund a second degree with dual majors in Theatre and History. Theatre is a way to combine all my interests, talents, obsessions and social change commitments. As Barry Lopez says “ Everything is held together with stories. That is all that is holding us together, stories and compassion.” RESUME |
