This is April Curtis's 16th year at EOU. April was a professional designer On and Off Broadway in New York City for seven years. She designed for the Grammy Awards, ABC After School Specials and ABC Comedy Awards as well as productions in regional theatres across the country. April has received 14 Kennedy Center Meritorious Achievement Awards for design and acting. In 2004, she was a mask designer for the Opening Ceremonies for the Summer Olympics in Greece. This summer she wrote Strange Gift a play with 12 masks set in ancient Ireland. At EOU, April teaches playwriting, acting, masked arts and speech as well as directing a show each year. Her weirdest professional moment was holding Bubbles, Michael Jackson's monkey during a dance rehearsal and having the monkey pull a large chunk of hair out of her head rather than go back to the star. Her greatest loves are Brian, Lara, Travis and Vaughn. |
