Rachel Jenkins Theatre Minor Rachel was born into a family of musicians in the year of the Bicentennial of the United States. She could sing before she could talk. Her large family traveled throughout the western states performing during her childhood and they were sought out to spend the summer doing a musical for the Oregon Pavilion at Expo 86 (World Exposition). Her father was an orchestra teacher, and when Rachel was in fourth grade, she learned to play the violin. She spent most of her time throughout her school years reading books or playing music. She play in several professional string quartets, such as Second Street Strings and Stradivari Schmaltz. She was also selected as a special guest musician during her senior year of high school to play with the Seattle Symphony. She attended college in Idaho, where she learned how to dance clogging and won first place in a competition there. She met her husband, Sam, during her second year of college, and they now have five children. Now that she has her hands full, she feels the need to go back to school after ten years of living life without it. She still enjoys singing and playing music, reading, dancing, and spending time with good people. |
