Joshua Gilman Performance Joshua Gilman was born in Bellingham, WA, and lived in Blaine, WA (on the Canadian border) until the age of 8, when he and his family moved to Vancouver, WA. He attended the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics (VSAA) from the 6th grade to the time of his high school graduation in 2009. While there, Joshua developed an interest in dance, vocal performance, creative writing, and theatre performance. He aided in the creation of costumes for several shows at VSAA, including The Importance of Being Earnest, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Once Upon a Mattress. However, his foray into theatre performance during his high school years was relatively brief, acting in only three shows: The Lottery, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and Alice In Concert (Alice At The Palace). It wasn’t until his admittance to Eastern Oregon University that his interest in acting developed further; after playing a small role in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing during his freshman year, Joshua decided to change his major from English Creative Writing to Theatre Performance.
