Minutes:
Tech Fee Committee met on this date at 7:00am in IH 203 to hear presentations from authors of various proposals for funding.
Minutes from February 2, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted.
Committee
approved the purchase of three new HP 4050N printers (approximately $1450.00
ea) from the Equipment Replacement Account.
They are to replace two printers in the Pierce Lab and one printer in
the Learning Center Lab. The printers
being replaced are well used and no longer capable of keeping up with the
volume of printing required in the student labs.
Anna
spoke with Darlene Morgan regarding a possible equipment reserve account within
the Tech Fee budget. Darlene said that
(after further consideration since her last conversation about this matter) it
might be possible to set up the equipment reserve account, but that once money
was allocated to that account it could never be spent elsewhere. Marv asked at what level such an account
would have to be funded. Anna will get
more information from Darlene at a later time. Anna also learned from Darlene that all tech fee money collected
from Summer Term students would go into the following year’s budget.
Proposals
by the following individuals were presented and explained:
Jeff Woodford – Chemistry
Ron Kelley – Chemistry
Dixie Lund – DDE
Kat Galloway & Jason Brown - Art
Jim Krieder – Student Activities
Questions
regarding the various proposals were brought forward by committee members. Questions included concerns such as whether
or not the authors of the proposals had sought like-kind funding elsewhere, and
how much (if any) of the request included on-going support after this
year. It was stressed by the committee
that according to the original guidelines for the Tech Fee, funds from the Tech
Fee may not be used to fund equipment for faculty or staff use.
Meeting
Adjourned at 9:20am.
