Tech-Fee Committee Minutes

February 6, 2003

Members Present: Anna Cavinato, Bob Larison, Frederick Pratter, Mike Cannon, Darren Hendrickson, Adam Patton, Rachel Feierabend, Melissa King.

Resource members present: Patty Cutright, Anna Maria Dill, Marv Taylor.

Minutes:

Tech Fee Committee met on this date at 7:00am to discuss this year’s proposals and the emergency proposal for funding of a student worker for Loso Hall 208.

There was a discussion regarding the proposal for a lab aid in the Loso Hall 208 lab. A motion was made to fund a student position at $8.00/hour with a cap of $6,000.00/year (approximately 750/hours). This amount would be pro-rated for the remainder of this academic year. It was agreed that the position would be at the Student Worker II level. The motion was unanimously approved.

Four of this year’s proposals were identified as replacements of current Tech Fee equipment so they will be funded from the equipment replacement account. These proposals are:

Noel Peden – New Library Web Server $5239.00

Tom Herrmann – Lower-Division Physics Lab/computer Replacement $7,000.00

Tom Herrmann – Lower-Division Physics Lab/LabPro Interface $2,721.00

Pat North – Computers for Academic Advising $1400.00*

*(Printer only, computers will be moved from a General Purpose Lab that is currently under utilized)

Anna will notify Noel, Tom and Pat of the committee’s decision.

The committee will meet next from 3:00-5:00pm on February 11, 2003 in Library 114 to continue reviewing this year’s proposals. Helen will compile a list of the committee’s ranking of this year’s proposals and forward them to the members before the next meeting
