Tech Fee Committee met on this date at 7:00 am in Pierce Library.
Minutes from the October 06, 2005 were read an approved as written.
Darren Hendrickson forwarded a request to purchase replacement bulbs for the various Tech Fee data projectors around campus. Most of the bulbs are nearing the end of their 2-3 year life span. The total cost of replacement is approximately $18,000. After discussion, it was agreed to fund replacement of ½ the bulbs this year and ½ next year, with emergencies being dealt with on an individual basis. Replacements will be funded out of the replacement budget.
Steffany Long submitted a request that Contribute be installed on ½ (the east side) of the General Purpose Lab in Pierce to enable students to get hands on experience using this program to build web pages. Committee agreed to fund the approximate cost of $1,000 from the maintenance budget.
Darren informed the committee of the results of his study into including Library 114 and the east side of Pierce Library General Purpose Lab as part of the Enhanced Learning Community as requested by Shirley Roberts at the last meeting. The total cost would be approximately $12,000. Several options were discussed for Library 114, including moving underutilized Smart Classroom equipment from other locations. Darren and Paul will pursue these options and report back to the committee. Shirley Roberts will be asked to submit a separate proposal for equipping the lab.
There was concern expressed regarding the condition and security of some of the Tech Fee equipment in the Art Department. Paul Rowan will meet with Doug Kaigler to discuss options.
