Social Science Exercise # 3
Many educational Web sites are geared towards what is known as "surfing the web." They emphasize the exciting array of Web sites materials, such as databases or informational centers for companies, countries, and educational centers. This course has consciously waited until the latter part of the course to explore this option as a mode of learning. The rationale for this is to have first built up a body of knowledge, an interactive, non-passive relationship with educational technology, and a critical attitude in the learning of the social sciences. Central questions as you perform this exercise will include how much substance exists in the Web sites you are visiting? Are most Web sites out to sell something or to inform? Do they succeed in informing and engaging the reader? |
