Finding Support

There are a number of places, both on and off campus, where you can find help and support if you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted. Wanting help and assistance is normal. You can choose the route that is best suited for you. It is most important to assess your own needs to do what is right for you.

      EOU Counseling Center

Located at 6th and L Avenue

Phone: 541-962-3524

Dr. Thacher Carter & Dr. Marianne Weaver

The counseling center is available for you to find confidential support. Reporting  a sexual assault to either psychologist in the counseling center does not require you to report the sexual assault to anyone else or to press legal charges. However, if you choose to pursue action, the counselors can support you with this process and can help you to know what to expect as you go through the procedure.

       EOU Student Health

Located at 6th and L Avenue

Phone: 541-962-3524

Student health is available for confidential support.

There is a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) available to you at student health. You can receive a physical exam, STD testing, prophylactics, and take with a nurse practitioner regarding any concerns you have about what happened to your body. A forensic exam can help collect physical evidence should you decide to report the assault legally. However, having a forensic exam will not require you to file a legal report.

       EOU Office of Student Affairs

Located in Inlow Hall 116

Phone: 541-962-3635

You have the option of filing a code of conduct complaint through the office of student affairs. Should you give names of perpetrators to the Student Affairs staff, they may be obligated to proceed with judiciary procedures. You may, however, visit the Student Affairs Office to ask questions about the procedure. Just be sure not to mention the names of perpetrators until you are sure that you are prepared to move forward with the process. You may bring an advocate with you to meet with the Student Affairs staff. The individuals you will likely meet with are Dr. Sheldon Nord (Vice President for Student Affairs) and Colleen Cascio (Code of Conduct Coordinator).
