Sexual Misconduct Bill of Rights

When filing a complaint of sexual misconduct with the Director of Student Relations, we assert that student victims have the following rights:

To have any allegation of sexual misconduct treated seriously.
To be treated with dignity.
To be free from any suggestion that the actions or choices of the victim caused the violation of the student conduct code.
To be free from pressure from campus personnel to report student conduct code violations if the victim does not wish to do so.
To be free from pressure from campus personnel to refrain from reporting the crime to avoid unwanted publicity.
To be free from student conduct code sanctions for students who were victims of sexual assault but may have violated university alcohol policies.
To be provided with all reporting and support resources.

Both the victim and accused student have the following rights:

To be informed of the Student Code of Conduct and hearing processes.
To have others present for support during the student conduct hearing
To be informed of the outcome of any disciplinary proceeding.
To be offered confidential counseling services at the EOU Counseling Center.
To be given the opportunity to request a change in on-campus housing if current housing feels unsafe.
To not be harassed by the other party or anyone else on campus.
To be given the opportunity to have a no-contact restriction from the other and/or a third party.
