Eastern Oregon University awards financial aid based on laws and regulations associated with each program. Our decisions are based on these rules, the information you and your family provide, the number of applicants, and the total funds available.

You must apply each year after January 1 to determine your eligibility for these programs. To insure maximum consideration for all financial aid programs, the Financial Aid Office establishes a priority deadline of March 1. This means that you must allow sufficient time for processing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) so that the Financial Aid Office receives the form by the priority deadline. If you miss the deadline, we will consider your application for loans through the Federal Family Education Program and other funds that may be available.

When you file the FAFSA, your eligibility is calculated based on the information you provide. This includes income, assets and family household size. If you are selected for verification, we will ask you to provide final income tax information so that we can match what you initially reported to the actual tax information you filed.

For information on available financial aid, please refer to the Financial Aid web page, http:www.eou.edu/fao.

In addition to federal programs, you should apply for private scholarships. Scholarship information is available in the Financial Aid Office and through several sites on the Internet. You should also apply to hometown organizations and clubs that provide scholarships.

Students receiving aid from state and federal sources are not only expected, but also required to maintain satisfactory academic progress toward graduation. The Financial Aid Office evaluates your progress after each term. It is important to know that financial aid is awarded based on the following earned grades: A, B, C, D, and S. Unacceptable grades are K, U, X, Y, I, and F. If you are a full time student and do not complete a minimum of 12 hours and maintain a 2.0, you may jeopardize your financial aid eligibility.

Emergency Loans
If you run into financial difficulty during the year, it may be possible to get a short-term emergency loan. These loans are available for 30 days and must be repaid within the term for which the loan is approved. An approved loan does include a service fee. If applying for an emergency loan, you must be prepared to document your need. All loans are dependent on available funds and are approved by the Financial Aid Office.
