The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. 

Approval of May Minutes:  Motion to approve and seconded; passed

Rob Youdelis, the new director of Environmental Health and Safety, was introduced to the committee and his new role was discussed.  Further discussion regarding his role with Campus Safety will take place.

1.     A student cut his finger while scraping paint with a razor blade

2.     An employee hurt his back while moving tables in the quad.

3.     A faculty member hurt his back while moving tables.

1.     A dislocated shoulder

Safety Grams – No new safety grams received.

Pending Safety Grams – Volleyball court issue still unresolved.

June/July Building Inspections

1.     Loso Hall - inspection sent to Building Manager and Marv Wigle.

2.     Inlow 109 – coffee maker with no automatic shut off.

3.     Inlow Hall – Basement storage room with paint stored – has been removed.

4.     Badgley 205N – coffee maker with no automatic shut off.

5.     Ackerman – Inadequate trash cans on first floor

                      South exit blocked with cardboard boxes.

                      Elevator mechanical room door blocked.

                      Stairway blocked.

6.     Library - Stairwell blocked with recycled papers.

Status of the Review of Safety Policies and Programs – complete, but document needs formatted; will be presented at the next meeting.  Irene Jerome will be contacted to let us know what is next.

MSDS Sheets – Project was put on hold pending the arrival of the new EHS Director.

Status of the Committee Chair – Helen Moore stepped down from the chair position; Rob Yuodelis (EHS Director) was nominated to replace Helen.  Motion passed unanimously.  Jeff Dunbar stepped down from the secretary position; Helen Moore was nominated to replace Jeff.  Motion passed unanimously.

Other Business – HUB kitchen ventilation system renovation is under way.

- Campus Safety brought up a concern about the swimming pool doors being found open.  They are working with    Athletics and Facilities to fix the problem.

- AED project is moving forward.  A machine with a cost of $1500 was identified and now funds need to be found. AEDs  should be placed in other buildings around campus.

Next meeting will be at 1:00pm on September 12th in Ackerman Alumni Room.
