Present:   Sue, Ryan, Helen, Irene, Jeff, Bob

 

Helen Moore called meeting to order;

 

Jeff Dunbar elected Secretary;

 

No 801 incidents to review;

 

There were two non-801 incidents to discuss:

• Custodian accidentally poured chemical solution into eye – no action by the committee is necessary.
• Student fell in Loso Hall when handrail gave way – Vicky Lee contacted Mike Rhodes to repair the handrail immediately – student has not filed a claim to date with the Risk Management Office.

 

No safety grams to report;

 

Review of pending safety grams:

• Outdoor volleyball court padding – athletics have costs and sample material – Cost for material is $165.00 and installation costs $82.50 – Athletics to purchase material and Facilities will cover installation – padding prevents abrasions but not much of a cushion – committee recommended yellow as the color.   Discussion on how to install.
• Building inspections – work with Steve Wadner and security officers to conduct building inspections – every building to be inspected once a quarter – need to create a formal check list to use when inspecting

Amending By-Laws

• Under the membership section, terms of membership should be three years.
• Chair elected by committee for a two-year term; Helen Moore will be chair of the committee until June 2006.
• Either Sue or Bob will be representing Loso Hall on a rotating basis depending on their schedules.

Helen is to review laws and regulations regarding the safety committee.

 

Is there a resolution to the campus weapons policy?   Once completed, the new policy must be posted around campus.

 

Next meeting is July 13 th at 2:00 p.m. in the Hoke Center.
