Members present:   Bob Gilmore, Irene Jerome, Kerry Bullard, Steffany Long, Abel Mendoza, Steve Wadner, Vickie Lee, Helen Moore

 

Members inspected selected areas of Loso Hall looking for Safety Hazards.   Results of the inspection are listed below.

Elevator Equipment door blocked (we moved during inspection)

Elec. Panel Room behind theatre – blocked by cart full of chairs

Stage exit door – blocked

Students using chop saw w/o glasses

Hearing devices (earplugs) necessary?

Sculpture (ex-jewelry)

Walkways blocked

Severe clutter, very unsafe

Big OSHA fine probability

No safe exit

Need exits marked off

No exit signs

Ceramics

Venting desperately needed in the glaze storage/mixing room

Need new filters for glaze spray booth

Floors need mopped in ceramic areas regularly (janitors ?)

              Painting Studio – No Exit signs

              General studio – fire extinguisher blocked, no exit

Print Lab & Ceramic Wheel room very nice

Theatre Storage

              Wardrobe – boxes encroaching in compressed air storage area, no exit signs

              Lighting Storage – dimmer boxes left open, electrical boxes totally blocked by clutter

 

Committee noted the excellent progress in alleviating safety concerns that has been made in all the shop areas since Bob Gilmore was hired as the Shop Technician.   The committee commends Bob for his diligence and perseverance.

 

Next meeting is scheduled for June 13, 2005 in Hoke 301 at 2:00pm
