• Mission

The Rural Oregon Institute at EOU is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping build and support stronger rural communities
in Oregon. ROI achieves its mission by:

• Promoting innovation and competitiveness while focusing resources on activities that contribute to finding solutions to rural issues. 

• Providing support to rural communities through coordinating and implementing collaborative projects with economic development districts, such as cluster analysis and economic gardening. 

• Facilitating local actions and the development of supportive local, regional, state, tribal, and federal policies through research, technical assistance, and education. 

• Enhancing academic opportunities in rural Eastern Oregon’s 11-county service region through creative collaborative efforts and coordinating research.

• Ensuring that the best technical expertise and resources are made available to EOU's constituents using faculty, students, and the resources of institutions and organizations throughout Oregon.
