Mission



Rural Oregon Institute (ROI) at EOU, funded by a U.S. Economic Development Administration grant and Eastern Oregon University, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping build and support stronger rural communities in Eastern Oregon.  RSC achieves helping to build and support to stronger rural communities in Eastern Oregon by:


  1. Promoting innovation and competitiveness while focusing resources on activities that contribute to finding solutions to rural issues. 

  2. Providing support to rural communities through coordinating and implementing collaborative projects with economic development districts, such as cluster analysis and economic gardening. 

  3. Facilitating local actions and the development of supportive local, regional, state, tribal, and federal policies through research, technical assistance, and education. 

  4. Enhancing academic opportunities in rural Eastern Oregon’s 11-county service region through creative collaborative efforts and coordinating research.

  5. Ensuring that the best technical expertise and resources are made available to EOU's constituents using faculty, students, and the resources of institutions and organizations throughout Oregon.
