Hunt Hall is the oldest of the four residence halls at Eastern. This five-story building has a unique architectural style which houses approximately 100 students. Hunt Hall is a co-ed residence for men and women on an alternating room basis. Separate bathrooms for men and women are on alternating floors. The building offers several group study areas; a large game room with pool tables, table tennis, foosball, etc.; a big screen TV theater; laundry facilities; an exercise room; kitchenette with burners and microwave; mail room; and a lounge on every floor. Resident assistants also staff a hall office on the main floor of C section in the evening.
While the older architectural style in Hunt offers the largest rooms on campus, the smaller hallways enable the development of a sense of community among residents. The main five-story wing has both single and double rooms are available throughout the building. Every room comes with two beds, dresser/drawers, wardrobes, desks, desk chairs, and bookcases. With the exception of the beds in D section that can be bunked, furniture in Hunt is stationary and can not be moved. Every room is also equipped with a two-cubic-foot refrigerator. Campus and local phone service is included in every room as part of the regular housing package but residents will need to bring their own phone. Basic Extended Cable TV is provided in every room. Two computer data jacks are active in every Hunt room.
Rooms in Hunt D section have been designed to function as efficiency apartments. Each room has its own half bath, microfridge (combination microwave-refrigerator), settee, and carpeting. In addition, beds in D section may also be bunked or lofted.
Did you know… this residence hall complex is named after Wilson Price-Hunt who led the first overland expedition to the northwest territories after Lewis & Clark. Hunt directed John Jacob Astor’s Pacific Fur Company expedition through the Grande Ronde Valley in 1811. As one of Oregon’s earliest pioneers, Hunt is credited with strengthening the claim of the United States in the Oregon Territory.
