Cable & Internet
Every living room within the suites in Alikut, North and Daugherty Halls have hookups for basic cable, which is included in the cost of housing.
In the common areas of the halls, Wi-Fi internet is available for students to use. In resident rooms, there are ethernet hookups that allow students to access free internet using an ethernet cord. Cords are available for purchase in the EOU bookstore, or in most department or electronic stores.
There are computer labs throughout the campus for all students to use. They are located in Loso Hall, Hoke Union Building, Inlow Hall, Pierce Library and Zabel Hall.
Before using the network, be sure that your computer has currently updated antivirus software and has been recently updated with all security updates from the operating system manufacturer.
If your computer is not secure and virus-free, the network port will be shut off indefinitely. This will be done to protect others on the network and your computer from more infections.
If you need help fixing a known virus problem (no charge, but only once!), patching your operating system, or getting your Ethernet card to work, you can bring your computer (just the tower or the notebook) over to the Computing Services Center.
In addition, software that facilitates the illegal sharing of copyrighted materials is not permitted on the campus network. If such software is detected, your port will be shut off indefinitely and you may be referred to the campus conduct system for violating the campus Acceptable Use Policy. For more information on copyright infringement, please review the information from Computing Services available here.
If you are unsure or have any questions about this information, please ask for help from the Computing Services Center in Ackerman Hall room 209, call x23111, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
