New
University Writing Requirement
Psychology Program
Beginning in Fall, 2004, there are new writing requirements for EOU. Instead of taking the Writing Proficiency Exam (WPE), students will complete one lower-level writing course designated by their major and two upper-level writing courses in their major.
For the Psychology program, the new writing requirements include the following:
Lower
division writing course:
Psychology 222 Writing in Psychology (3 CR)
Upper division
writing intensive courses:
Psychology 335 Principles of Cognitive Psychology
(5 CR)
Note: Psychology
majors are required to choose one of the following capstone options, so whatever
one they complete will meet the new UWR
Psychology 403 Honors thesis (5 CR)
Psychology 441 Project in Experimental Psychology
(5 CR)
Psychology 460 Experimental Psychology (5 CR)
Note that Psychology has other campus and DDE courses currently designated
as writing intensive (WI) courses, and those will continue to count for current
students who choose the WPE plus WI (old) course requirement.
