Student Research Assistants

W.I.L.D. (Watching Infants Learn & Develop)

EOU students participate in infant & child development projects in several ways:

PSY 401 Research (1 to 6 credits S/U)
Some students enroll in this independent course and earn credit for their research efforts. The amount of credit depends upon the number of hours worked. Student research assistants work 30 hours during the term for each credit, so 1 credit requires 3 hours per week, 2 credits requires 6 hours per week, and so on. This course is offered during fall, winter, and spring terms. Permission of the instructor is required.

Student employees
Some students are hired to work on the W.I.L.D. staff at student hourly rates.

Student research collaborators
Occasionally students are funded through the Sharing the Learning program to participate in faculty research.

Student independent projects
Advanced students may be able to design their own projects on infant and child development for the Psychology capstone (either for PSY 460, Experimental Psychology, or for PSY 403, Honors thesis).

To inquire about any of these opportunities, check with Marie Balaban before or at the beginning of the term.
