This site is intended to provide information regarding the search for a new Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. The information on this page is to assist in communicating to the EOU community about the search process. Additionally, it is to be used as a helpful tool for candidates to learn more about EOU. 

The goal of the search process is to find and select the best candidate for the position of Provost.  To accomplish this goal, a committee comprised of many individuals representing multiple facets of EOU has been formed. Nancy Knowles, associate professor of English and writing at EOU, has agreed to serve as chairperson. The initial step of the committee is to determine the specific process they will use to guide them throughout the search. Furthermore, a draft job announcement has been created and is accessible by clicking the "Position Announcement" link in the upper left hand corner of this page. The goal of the committee is to collect applications and resumes. Beginning in January, each application will be reviewed and the committee will narrow the field to a set of semi-finalists. The semi-finalists will be interviewed by the committee in February with the goal of bringing finalists to the campus toward the end of February. These visits will be very inclusive and will incorporate many public forums and other avenues for the University community to meet the candidates. A final decision will be made shortly after the visits are concluded. 

This is a very important position for EOU and it is critical to have broad community input in the process. At this time, we request that you provide and make recommendations for potential candidates to the search committee. We hope you will reach out to your colleagues and professional organizations and seek out candidates whom you feel will be a good match for EOU and who will serve well in the role of Provost and Senior Vice President. Additionally, we fully expect to have qualified candidates from within EOU. While we are committed to an open process, the committee will maintain the confidentiality of all candidates until the time they are named as a finalist.
