The Oregon Writing Project at Eastern had the honor
to host Emmanuel Milibongwe ("Bonga") Shangase at the
2002 Summer Writing Institute. Bonga Shangase teaches fifth through
seventh grade and is also principal at Livangeli Primary School
in Livangeli, South Africa.
During the Summer Institute, Bonga presented a
workshop on the Zulu language. He also attended a local pow-wow
and rode a horse for the first time.
Bonga's visit was arranged with the assistance
of Judith Baker of the Boston
Writing Project.
