Rural
Education and Training
Purpose:
Research from around the nation shows a strong
correlation between location of training and location of
practice. Therefore, the Northeast Oregon AHEC and the
other Oregon AHECs are following a proven model by
shifting health professional training to rural
communities.
Northeast Oregon AHEC has established working
partnerships with Oregon Health Sciences University
(OHSU), Pacific University (PU), Eastern Oregon
University(EOU)/OHSU School of Nursing, Blue Mountain
Community College (BMCC) and Treasure Valley Community
College (TVCC) to cooperatively provide either initial
certification training or clinical rotations for:
- medical
students
- dental
hygiene students
- emergency
medical technicians
- family
medicine residents
- physical
therapy students
- nurse
practitioner students
- occupational
therapy students
- pharmacy
students
- physician
assistant students
