Health Career Camps

RE: MEDQUEST HEALTH CAREERS SUMMER CAMP

LA GRANDE - Northeast Oregon Area Health Education Center (NEOAHEC) is offering a five-day summer camp. MedQuest Health Career Choices Camp will be held on the Eastern Oregon University Campus June 21-25, 2004.

Northeast Oregon students that have completed the 9th-12th grades and reside in one of the following ten counties: Baker, Gilliam, Grant, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, or Wheeler are invited to apply. Tuition for the camp is $320., which includes meals, housing and all activities. A limited number of scholarships are available. Camp enrollment is limited to 30 students. Sessions will include health career information, self enrichment, hands-on clinical skills, workshops, and opportunities to shadow health care professionals.

For additional information, or to receive an application packet, call NEOAHEC at (541) 962-3801 or ask your school counselor or health teacher. Completed applications, along with a $50 deposit must be received in the NEOAHEC office by May 7, 2004.

RE: MEDSTARS-HEALTH CAREERS SUMMER CAMP

LA GRANDE- Northeast Oregon AHEC (Area Health Education Center) is offering a three-day summer camp. MedStars AHEC Honors Program will be held on the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) Campus in Portland July 14-17, 2004.

MedStars is a program for students who are entering their senior year of high school, or entering college freshman are eligible. Students who have demonstrated their interest in a health career by participating in other health career programs and students from rural and underserved minority communities will be accepted into the program, based on their letteres of recommendation and application.

Northeast Oregon students that reside in one of the following ten counties: Baker, Gilliam, Grant, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, or Wheeler are invited to apply. Tuition for the camp is $200., which includes meals and six night's lodging. A limited number of scholarships are available.

For additional information, or to receive an application packet, call NEOAHEC at (541) 962-3801 or ask your school counselor or health teacher. Completed applications, along with a $25 deposit must be received in the NEOAHEC office by April 12, 2004.
